Perhaps that's true "nowadays", but I can assure you that the song isn't
why *I* know the word. I have a *lot* of doubt that he was thinking about
the song in particular. It was obviously more common in popular culture
40-50 years ago, when western shows like Rawhide and Bonanza were
ubiquitous, before the "deruralization" of television.
