In English, these words have other meanings in common use (especially colloquially) than their scientific understandings.

“Solid” can also imply things like “firm” or “structurally stable” — including for abstract concepts.

“Liquid” can be applied to movement and form.

“Solution” can also be the answer to a problem.

As a native English speaker, I personally find the disambiguation helpful to distinguish between other uses of the words.
