I agree with your points; if I was to express the intended meaning in
the context of a known situation, then chances are that I wouldn't use
the {vay'} either.

What led me to this thread though, was the occasional "strangeness" in
translating a "noun+be-verb" to english from klingon, and the {vay'
QaQ} was the first example which came to mind.
