I would point out that /I saw the cat/ is a perfective concept. 
*<timestamp> vIghro' vIleghpu'.*

You would only say just *<timestamp> vIghro' vIlegh* if you were saying 
something like /five minutes ago I was looking at the cat when suddenly.../
