I suspect the word «tuj» - at least in everyday speech - doesn’t refer generally to radiative energy transfer, but rather to the sensation of high temperature.

At room temperature, blackbody radiation is almost entirely in the infrared; a teensy portion is in the visible spectrum, and none of it is ultraviolet. You need to get up to thousands of kelvin before the peak of the blackbody spectrum slips into the visible range.
Therefore, when people speak of thermal radiation, as well as things like thermal vision, they are primarily referring to infrared.

Was there any mention of what temperature scale Klingons normally use, or how to specify which Terran scale we’re using? Could one say *SelSIyuS* SImyon, *ve’renHay’* SImyon, *qelvIn* SImyon, etc.?

(I know the Kelvin scale doesn’t use ”degrees”, but I’m not sure that distinction would matter in translation.)

What does that make ultraviolet? Or X-Rays? I guess there must be a historical reason why {tuj 'otlh} is infrared, since all photons carry energy, and infrared radiation is actually lower energy (less "heat") than visible light. It would be nice to get labels for the other parts of the {'otlh yutlhegh}.

SImyon n. degree (unit of measure for temperature)
[use it like 'uj etc.]

Do {SImyonHom} and {SImyon'a'} exist?

Also, does anyone know of any instances of Klingon references to degrees of temperature in Star Trek?
