Energy-beings are quite popular in Trek.  E.g.

"John Doe" was the first Zalkonian to complete the metamorphosis from humanoid to noncorporeal being of pure energy (TNG "Transfigurations")

Other energy beings are the Thassians (TOS "Charlie X"), Gothosians (TOS "The Squire of Gothos"), the Companion cloud-creature (TOS "Metamorphosis"), the Beta XII-A "hate-feeding" creature, and the Q Continuum (TNG passim).
