chay' 'etlh DoQ nuch
How does a coward claim a sword? (PB)

'etlh DoQDI' meQchu'pu' che'rupbogh
his promised kingdom will be ash by the time he
 claims the sword (PB)

Since in our two known examples "sword" is the object of {DoQ}, "territory" is apparently just an example to distinguish one type of claim from another - e.g. "he claims to have cured cancer". See {maq} "proclaim", {ja'} "tell, report".

TREK TRIVIA:
The Tellun Star System containing the Class-M planets Elas {'elas} and Troyius {Doy'yuS} is in a border area also claimed by the Klingon Empire. As of 2268, the two worlds had been at war with each other for years. (TOS "Elaan of Troyius")
